Ashmantle

"Where do I come from?" A smile slowly grows across the creature's face, as it sits back in its seat, folding its hands in its lap. "Desire."
An amalgamation of hopes, dreams, desire, Ashmantle came into being from the will of others. The laws of the multiverse are seldom static. Some think that even the gods exist only because they were believed to. Convince enough entities of the existence of a large, jolly old human who likes dressing in red and giving out gifts, and you may need to start leaving out the milk and cookies.
Once upon a time, many many years ago, there existed an average vulpine, living in an average port city, doing his best to make the world a brighter place. Having touched the lives of enough people that his passing didnt sit well with them, there began whispers of doubt that he was in fact gone, and still very much alive and well elsewhere. It began as a tribute, grew into an annual tradition, and was eventually very much believed among their descendants.
Shaking the ashes from its fur, decades later, a figure rose to its haunches, focussing on unfamiliar surroundings. It remembered the sea, the city... but could not quite recall why. And it was not alone. So many voices now shared it's mind, all very opinionated...

Called into being on an old forgotten shrine by an ailing mustiline named "Wilheim Striker" who begged the amalgamate kitsune to track down and return his kidnapped daughter by any means. As payment, he offered himself. Echo accepted the offer, devouring the mustiline to regain his strength. As a curious side effect, Willheim's essence remained within him. Another in the already growing throng of voices. With his help, Echo kept his word, rescuing Wilheim's daughter, Ijirashi. Feeling a great affinity for her, either by chance or as a result of her father's presence in his mind, he made th decision to foster the young snow ferret. He would take her to a realm known from long ago,recently re-discovered, where she would hopefully be safe. Idavollr. The city of the northern gods built from the ruins of Yggdrasil, after the fabled Ragnarok.

Ijirashi grew into a beautiful young woman, and soon set off on her own life's journey. His initial quest complete Echo took up residence in Idavollr. With the Valkyries lost during Ragnarok, he took up the roll of psychopomp. Collecting, nurturing and sheparding the souls of the dead to their chosen deity or resting place, and had many a great and terrible adventure.

It was also thanks to his role here, that he would later meet Lady Brynhildur Heklana. Slayer of Jormungandr, who had remained as vassal to current allmother, Ljos. A dragon attack on Bryn's farm prompted Echo to respond, searching for the fallen. They would meet many more times after this, either by duty or chance, until they realized a shared interest in one another, and decided to make it official, and became inseparable.
Following the twilight of the gods, Idavollr became closed off, and mortals and lesser beasts were forced to return to the Material plane. The drow exile, Alauntree, founded the city of Nascense, where those displaced now called home.

During a sojourn to the coastal lands of Gilderheim, Bryn disappeared and was never seen again. For many long years, Echo remains hopeful that one day she may return, and every evening would sit and wait at the crossroads leading by the entrance gate until dark. It would be a number of years later that he finally mustered the courage to lay her to rest, in gesture and mind. He traveled to to Gilderheim, to the last place she was seen and bid his final fare wells. During preparation to return, he chanced upon a curious creature, a human woman with hair like spun gold and eyes that bore into the soul, though inside slept the formidable power of the great golden wyrm. Little did he know how profound this meeting would become and for a time, found comfort. But often bliss does not last. Something called him farther South.

Ashmantle is, for all intents and purposes, an amalgamation of the spirits of several of his home world's inhabitants, ones he knew and had a bond with. As such, they all 'exist' as a single entity within the form of the kitsune, with a single 'spokesperson' acting as the voice, to interact with the world around them/him. The 'pilot' is determined either by situational need in RP, or by emotional triggers, usually musical or traumatic, so it would not be unusual to anyone who knew him for there to be sudden and unexpected alterations in mood or demeanour. The transition period may be instant or over a period of time. In the latter, two or more personalities could also overlap or blend together for a short time.
The information below should be considered spoilers and OOC. This would not be known IC without having discovered it in some way during game play. They are not magically or technologically detectable.

All of the personalities form the whole (Echo), many minds speaking as a single voice, each lending some of themselves to it none of them can exist separately from the whole anymore being too fractured, but each can take center stage depending on some factors [triggers are not 100% guaranteed to work, I roll for efficacy but here is a list for reference and possible use in plot or RP ]:



1)Kenshin[m] – A young kitsune who had left his shrine in search of the people who abandoned it. He eventually settled down far from home becoming a by the book detective with the local law enforcement agency located near Runport before meeting his untimely end at the hands of a somewhat unusual serial killed he had been investigating.
Know triggers: clear bells particularly glass or crystal
Musical affinity: Harp, finger harp
Mannerism: Timid, cautious, naive.

2) Doblin C Dobs [m] - Duke of the ancestral house of Evercroft. Vampire black leopard, gentleman, lover of art, and attractive company, fine dining and indulgence. Dobs was sent to final rest when a rival clan attacked the asylum his lover owned and ran, in which she subsequently also succumbed.
Known triggers: sensual advances, expensive liquor, strong attractive personalities

Mannerism: Flirtatious, amorous, guileful

3) Abrigela Gilnoste [f]- Stoic, emotionless, withdrawn, matter-of-fact owner and proprietor of the Runport mental hospital and ex lover of Doblin. Abri fell in the defense of her asylum when Doblin’s rivals attacked the facility.

Mannerism: Cold, matter-of-fact, unbothered

4) Paityn[f] - Paityn "Sagebrush" Williams was born to two doting mothers, entrepreneurs who pioneered the herbal lube industry, and raised alongside her twin brother within the confines of an RV lovingly referred to as "Radiance." The mobile home was littered with peace signs and other similar paintings, and had proudly visited every single National Park (and boasted the stickers of each.) She was home schooled, and impressed upon her was the importance of spending one's life enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature. Oh and a warewolf? Did we mention that? AND the lover of the deer goddess of Winter? Quite allot been happening..

5) Seishin [m] - Wandering psionic swordsman from Taigoria. Somewhat guarded, prefers to observe, learn, and then interact. Enjoys philosophy, discussing the nature and workings of things, observation of tradition and adherence to an honorable code of conduct.
Known triggers: Acts of needless cruelty, ritual, beauty
Musical affinity: Shakuhachi, Shamisen, Erhu
Mannerism: Positive, Enthusiastic, Caring

6) Nihilix [?]- A sliver of the darkness that consumed the EOB, trapped in the maelstrom if souls, and not too happy about it.
Known triggers: Angering the host to the point where he snaps

Mannerism: n/a It simply wishes to inflict harm, will accept direction as to what, or just target whoever is nearest

7) Wilheim Striker [m] - Former artificer to the court of Tarna, his love for the king's youngest daughter was denied, until they fled the city together in a flying machine he had built. Together, they had a daughter. And called her Ijirashi. He died in the plague that swept the land, after spending his strength praying to and summoning the village’s shrine guardian and pleading with it to find his kidnapped daughter in exchange for his soul.

8) Trauma sep Tarn [m] – Former ruler of the kingdom of Tarna, this half dragon, alongside his queen Holli, took back the kingdom from his brother Rajah and restored its status as a place of prosperity and freedom. Not much is known about his death, but he was last seen traveling East in search of his daughter who had eloped with the royal artificer.

9) Akiko "Aki" Ravel [f]- A young Nogitsune female having once guarded the shrines of Shimoda, in Taigoria alongside Kenshin. When Kenshin left for city, she was left behind, doing her best to keep them with a growing yokai presence thanks to the neglect of the people who no longer worshiped there, a battle she eventually lost, taking her anger toward Kenshin with her when an unknown shadow took the shrine, and her with it.

10) Seok-Jin Manoja Karst [m] - Ancient Amethyst dragon, rescued from a dying world by his then mate Aemar sa Aeralis. Manoja returned to the remains of the World Tree with Aemar where their family grew briefly before the collapse of the old gods' world. Manoja was lost soon after in an effort to restore his mate's vitality.
